Mrs. Erlie Mae Smith of Raeford died Thursday, August 18, 2016 in her home at the age of 90. Mrs. Smith was born in Robeson County on August 11, 1926 to the late Fuller and Ruth Barnhill McDowell. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Oscar Barefoot and John Smith. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Raeford First Baptist Church. She is survived by her sister: Geneva McKeithan of Raeford; her step-son, John C. Smith, Jr. (Sharon) of Raeford; her step-daughter, Ruthie Watson (Elbert) of Tar Heel; her nieces, Faye Duggins (Gary) of Trininty, Shirley Coltrane (Jim) of New London, Pat Sykes (Danny) of Mt. Carmel, TN, Gail Beasley (Larry) of Sanford; her nephew Bobby McDowell (Audrey) of Raeford. A visitation will be held at Raeford First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 20, 2016 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Reverend Tom Lee and Reverend Bobby McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Danny Sykes officiating. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Foundation of Hoke County, P.O. Box 1584, Raeford, NC 28376.
