Floyd McNeill Obituary

On Sunday, April 24, 2016 Floyd McNeill passed away peacefully at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst North Carolina surrounded by his family. Visitation will be at Raeford Presbyterian Church where he was a devoted lifelong member on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial Service will be at 11:30 a.m. following by a brief graveside service. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Sam Morris Sunday School Class and members of VFW Post 10. Floyd retired from the Air Force in 1970 after 20 years of proud service. He worked for the state of North Carolina at McCain Sanatorium. He then owned and operated McNeill Plumbing Repair and Hillcrest Mobile Home Park in Raeford before retiring again. He served as a Deacon for Raeford Presbyterian Church. He was active in VFW Post 10 and the Woodman of the World in Raeford. Floyd enjoyed time with his family, weekends traveling with his wife Joye in their motorhome especially to Bluegrass festivals, and spending time with his friends at breakfast at Edenboroughs Restaurant or hanging out mornings at Daniels Exxon. He was known for his sense of humor and quick smile. He loved seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Floyds perfect day was sitting on his front porch while visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years Joye Royal McNeill, his children William McNeill and fianc Mya Dyer, Lynn McNeill Hendrix and her husband, Gary, and Sharon McNeill Wood and her husband Richard; his grandchildren Billy McNeill, Sarah McNeill, Kathleen Wood, Peyton Wood, Matthew Hendrix and his wife Stephanie, Evan Hendrix and his wife Cortney, Sydney Hendrix, and John Arthur Hendrix; five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaylee, Bailey, Hannah, and Stacy. He is also survived by his sisters Lucille Burkhart, Janie Barbour, and Edith Newton and husband Buddy; sister-in-law Alona McNeill; and a brother Lewis McNeill and wife Sarah Louis. The family would like to express appreciation to Open Arms Retirement Center and Liberty Hospice, your love and care for "Mr. Floyd" is much appreciated. Services are entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home of Raeford. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Raeford Presbyterian Church Building Fund, PO Box 1570, Raeford, NC 28376.
