Mrs. Grace Lenora “Dodie” Currie of Scotia Village in Laurinburg, formerly of Raeford, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 in Morrison Manor Hospice House at the age of 86.
Mrs. Currie was born in Raeford on December 22, 1930, to the late, Lee and Mary Cashion Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband James Currie, her brothers Bobby Carter, James Carter, Gene Carter and her sister Ann Lowder.
Mrs. Currie was a member of Raeford Presbyterian Church. She was married to James Currie on September 23, 1951, and was married for 56 years until his death in 2007.
Mrs. Currie is survived by her daughter Mary Lynn C. Jernigan and husband, Lynn of Dunn; sister-in-law, Eloise U. Carter of Raeford; nephews, Johnny Carter of Raeford, William Carter and wife Leigh and their children Claire, Carleigh and Kate all of Laurinburg; nieces, Laura Lowder of Jackson Springs, Deann Lowder and her daughter Katherine of Aberdeen; and many cousins in the Carter and Cashion families.
A visitation will held on Monday February 20, 2017 from 10:00 until 10:45 am at the Raeford Presbyterian Church John C. Ropp Fellowship Hall.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am following the visitation in the Raeford Cemetery with The Reverend Dr. Steve Fitzgerald and The Reverend Dr. Len Keever officiating.
