John Dally Obituary

John Edmund Dally of Pinebluff, formally of Monroe, New York passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2017. John was born on July 4, 1924 in Tuxedo, NY. He enlisted in the army in February 1943. He served in WWII with the 7th Army 4th Special Forces and the Office of Strategic Services. His overseas assignments took him to North Africa, France, Switzerland and Italy. John is survived by his wife Sandra and his sister in law Nancy Mellone of Pinebluff, brother Thomas of Denville, NJ and his sister Maryjane DeMouth of Queensbury, NY. In addition to his parents, Arthur R. and J. Irene Dally, John was predeceased by brothers ,Arthur, James, William, Richard, Gerald and David. John worked various managerial construction jobs including Orange and Rockland Utilities from which he retired and relocated to NC. During his membership at Monroe NY Country Club, he achieved a hole in one and a double eagle. What he enjoyed most during retirement after golf were the many hours he spent at the Pinehurst Harness Track in the company of current and former race horse owners, trainers and drivers and feeding his special ponies gingersnaps each day. He took pleasure in the friendships he made at the FirstHealth fitness center. As per his wishes, he will be cremated with no memorial services. Thank you to FirstHealth Hospice for the wonderful care he received.
