Joyce Monroe

Mrs. Joyce Conoly Monroe of Raeford passed away in her home of 60 years surrounded by her loved ones Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the age of 82. Mrs. Monroe was born June 4, 1934 in Hoke County, NC to the late James Lawrence Conoly and Ruby Bowen Conoly. She was a member of Galatia Presbyterian Church, where she had a lifetime membership with the Women of the Church. She was a NC Extension and Community Associate for over 50 years, former chairman of Raeford-Hoke Museum, a former advisor of the Rockfish 4-H Club, and worked in banking for 41 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold D. Monroe of Raeford, a son, Wayne H. Monroe and his wife Peggy of Raeford, 2 daughters, Jennie M. Gibson and her husband Danny of Raeford, Sheila Carter ( Tony Calcutt) of Raeford, 2 brothers, Jimmy Conoly of Raeford, Bobby Conoly and his wife Sara of Raeford, a sister Carolyn Riddle of Kearney, MO, sister in-law Mary Frances Conoly of Raeford, 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Brock (Jason) , Will Gibson (Crystal), Kelly Carter, Chris Carter, Sean Eastwood (Lindsey), Josh Eastwood, Scott Eastwood, Kyle Nelson, Heather Humphrey (Luke) and John Loper, and 6 great- grandchildren, Grayson Brock, Harper Brock, Ava Gibson, Sean Eastwood, Jr. Liam Eastwood, and Chase Eastwood. A visitation will be held 1:30pm-3:00pm Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Galatia Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be following the visitation at 3:00 pm with Pastor Brett Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Galatia Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Galatia Presbyterian Church, 8800 Galatia Church Road Fayetteville, NC 28304 or to the Raeford-Hoke Museum P.O. 1383 Raeford, NC 28376.
