Paul Talmage Brock

Rev. Paul Talmage Brock passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 in Cape Fear Valley Hospital at the age of 93. Rev. Brock was born July 20, 1917 in Laurens, SC to the late James Andrew and Lelia Jennings Brock. He earned degrees from Gardner-Webb, Furman, and Southeastern Seminary. Rev. Brock was a Baptist minister for 65 years, serving churches in North and South Carolina. He served two terms on the General Board of Baptist State Convention and was Moderator for two associations. He traveled in 15 countries, including a preaching mission to Cuba. Survivors include a son, William (Bill) T. Brock and wife Kathy of Belmont, NC; a daughter, Paula B. Young and husband Jon of Fayetteville, NC; one sister, Margaret B. Lee of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Paul T. Brock, II, William Eric Brock, Elizabeth Brock Young and husband Jeremy Levine, and Johanna Brock Young. The family will receive relatives and friends between the hours of 1:00 and 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Spencer Baptist Church, 187 N. Oak Street, Spindale, NC 28160. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Paul Childers, Chaplain R. N. Hardin, and Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery, Shelby, NC. Care of the family is entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376.
