Peter Sorensen Obituary

Mr. Peter J. Sorensen of Raeford formerly of Illinois, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Autumn Care of Raeford, at the age of 86. Mr. Sorensen was born in Cook County, Illinois on December 29, 1929, to the late Jens Peter Sorensen and Phillis Ward Sorensen. He was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Sorensen. Mr. Sorensen served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was farmer in Illinois and plant manager at Crane Packing in Vandalia, Illinois before he retired. His hobbies were woodworking and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, of 64 years, Helen Sorensen, one son, Dane P. Sorensen, one daughter, Jean S. Thomas (Robert) two grandchildren, Christian and Jacob Thomas all of Raeford, 2 sisters, Phyllis Nelson of Round Lake, Illinois, and Meta Iwachaniuk of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
