Robbie Peoples Obituary

Mrs. Robbie Frances Peoples, 88, of Raeford, passed away at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, on Sunday, November 26, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born December 12, 1928 in Macon County, Tennessee. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Raeford where she served on numerous committees. She retired from Hoke County Schools in 1993 after twenty-two years as a teacher assistant. She was a member of the Hoke County Extension and Community Association, the Hoke County Teacher Assistant's Association, she served on the Library Board, and volunteered at the Raeford-Hoke Museum. The Extension named her Volunteer of the Year in 1999 and 2000. She was also awarded The Raeford/Hoke Volunteer of the Year - Kay Thomas Award in 2001. Family and friends were her top priority. She loved cooking for them. Anyone who was a recipient of one of her pecan pies was very fortunate. She enjoyed working in the yard, decorating for every holiday, and pulling for the NC State Wolfpack. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jesse Alvin Peoples, and her mother and stepfather, Ruby Estelle and Russell Earl Repsch. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include daughters Linda Lefler and husband, Ed, of High Point; Becky McRoy and husband. Phil, of Bath; and Pam Wright and husband, Rodney, of Raleigh; grandchildren Eddie Lefler and wife, Ange of Belmont; Jason Lefler and wife, Nancy, of Raleigh; Drew Wright and significant other, Stephanie Pratt, of Moncure; Jordan Wright and wife, Naomi, of Raleigh; and Jessica M. Ambrose and husband, Jake, of Bath; and great-grandchildren Abigail and Eliza Lefler, Madeleine Lefler, and Claire Ambrose. A celebration of Mrs. Peoples' life will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 30, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Raeford with Reverend Tom Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm at the church. Memorials may be made to the Round-a-Bouts group or the Youth Group of First Baptist Church of Raeford, 333 N. Main St., Raeford, NC 28376.
