Barry Baker Wood, 59, peacefully passed away at his home, Sunday, February 11, 2018 while surrounded by the love and comfort from his family.Barry was born January 1, 1959 to the late Donald and Betty Wood of Rockfish, NC. He is survived by his brother Don (Lynn) of Wagram, NC, his brother Todd (Sherry) of Rockfish and his sister Becky of the home, who did a truly amazing job of caring for him as he battled with cancer. Barry is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed spending time with. He will truly be missed by all of them.Barry was well known in the Rockfish community and was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. After retirement in the early 90s from Kelly Springfield Tire Company (now known as Goodyear) Barry enjoyed gathering with local residents at the Rockfish Caf or at Woods Small Engine Repair Shop. Always eager to help those in need, Barry did not meet a stranger and was known by all to have such a sweet spirit about him. He enjoyed working in his garden and cherished his pet dogs, Maggie and Blue.Barry will be laid to rest on Thursday, February 15, 2018. The family will receive guests from 2:00pm-2:45pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Rockfish, NC , followed by a celebration of his life at 3:00pm officiated by Reverend Tommy Underwood. The interment will be held at the church cemetery immediately following the services.The Wood family would like to thank all those who visited, called, prepared food and especially for all the prayers that were sent up for Barry during this time.The family is requesting that memorials and donations be made to Liberty Hospice, Raeford, NC or Tabernacle Baptist Church Rockfish, NC.Arrangements for the family are entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home, Raeford, NC.
