Mrs. Christine Armstrong Cothran of Raeford passed away July 2, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, at the age of 87.Mrs. Cothran was born in Cumberland County on March 26, 1931, to the late Lawrance Garland Armstrong and Clyde Hair Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her husband for over 60 years, William (Bill) Cothran and her son William Joseph (Joe) Cothran and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ross Cothran.Mrs. Cothran was member of Raeford First Baptist Church for over 65 years, WMU, and a Sunday School teacher for the Gleaners Class for over 30 years. She graduated from Pembroke State University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1970, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Elementary Education and graduated at East Carolina University with a Masters Degree. She was a teacher for Benjamin Martin Elementary School in Cumberland County for over 25 years. She also tutored students in Hoke County.Mrs. Cothran is survived by two daughters, Judith Christine Cothran of Raeford, NC. Patricia C. McNeill (Mike) of Raeford, NC; four grandchildren Michael Patrick McNeill (Shelley) of Dothan, AL, James Dwight McNeill of Raeford, Michael Taylor Cothran of Fort Worth, TX, Christine Nicole Cothran of Plano, TX, five great-grandchildren Andrew Connor McNeill, Matthew Graham McNeill, Kali, Jacob and Lily and a brother, Jerry Armstrong (Susie) of Fayetteville, NCA visitation will be held 11am-1pm Saturday July 7, 2018 at Raeford First Baptist Church.A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1pm.Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to: Raeford First Baptist Church, Roundabouts, 333 North Main Street, Raeford, NC or to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374
