Riddle and then Dew heating company.  In the late 1960’s he started his own heating and air conditioning company using the name Central Heating and Air Conditioning Company.  He continued to build and grow his company expanding to include plumbing and electrical work.  His desire to learn never faded and he went on to study for and receive his Unlimited Builders License.  Fred decided to incorporate his company and the name was changed to CHACCO, Inc. where he continued to work until retiring and handing over the day to day operations to his children.

Fred enjoyed meeting and spending time with all kinds of people.  He was dedicated to his community and strived to make it better each day.  He was a proud member of The Masons, The Eastern Star, and Amaranth. He served as a chairman on the Cumberland County District 8 School Board for several years and was a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher in his local church.  Fred was an excellent leader and enjoyed mentoring numerous employees over the years.

Fred was an extraordinary husband, father, brother, and friend often going the extra mile for those he loved.  He was family oriented, always making the time to attend his children’s activities as they were growing up, making sure to attend or host family celebrations, and always ready to lend a helping hand.

Fred was an intelligent yet humble man with an abundance of humor and wit that drew people towards him.  He lived his life with a zest that was rare and special.  He gave of himself and made his corner of the world a better place to live.
