Gennie Ree Locklear Britt

Mrs. Gennie Ree (Locklear) Britt of Red Springs died April 29, 2019 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 78.Mrs. Britt was born October 30, 1940, at home in Robeson County, NC to Richard and Lina Bell. She met and married Ralph Britt on March 7, 1959, while Dad served his country in the military Mom followed Dad to various states finally settling in California. After over 30 years of living in California they retired and moved back to NC to be with family. Mom loved to shop, travel, gamble and taking care of her plants. When Dad died almost 7 years ago a little piece of Mom died with him.She is predeceased by her husband, father and mother. Her step mother Rosie Jane Locklear who raised her sisters, Carletter, Dorthy, Betty Jane, Vency, Clementine, and Joyce, brothers, Allen, David Ronald, and Hanford. She leaves behind her son Bruce (Margerite) Britt of Arkansas, daughters, Carol Gray of the home, Karen (Larry) Martin of CA, Peaches and Tiger of the home, grandchildren, Sophia (Thomas) Silva of CA, Christopher Gray of Michigan, Nicole Martin of WA, Benjamin Martin of CA, Brittney Martin of NY, Robert Austin Britt of AK, sisters, Martha Faye Bullard, Lona Mae Strickland, brother, Richard Strickland and a host of nieces and nephews in NC and IL. She is also survived by all her South Hoke neighbors that were always ready to sit on the porch and visit with Mom and a great friend Erma Hewett. She will be missed by many.A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Crumpler Funeral Home -Raeford
