Glenn Chavis

Mr. Glenn Chavis of Raeford, passed away at his home, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the age of 70. Mr. Chavis was born December 1, 1946 in Hoke County. He is preceded in death by his father Leo Chavis and his brother Robert Saunders. He was an avid hunter and hunted with his best friend Pop Revels. He loved fishing with his brother Robin Chavis. He was employed with Aberdeen Rockfish Railroad for 33 years before he retired. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Joy Chavis of Raeford, 2 daughters, Melissa Chavis of Raeford, Amy Chavis of Raeford, a son Marshall "Rascal" Chavis II and his wife Wyann of Raeford, his mother Charity "Ninny" Chavis of Antioch, 7 grandchildren Justin, Laurie, John, Isaiah, Jeffrey, Benjamin, Marshall, 2 great- grandchildren Juelz and Lacoda, 3 brothers, Dinny Chavis of Antioch, Robin Chavis (Kenya) of Red Springs, Timmy Chavis of Taylorsville, NC, a sister Tammy Chavis of Red Springs, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the local VFW Post 10 c/o George Balch 4204 Philippi Church Road, Raeford, NC 28376.
