Mr. James "Jim" Henry Culp of the Rockfish Community passed away September 14, 2017 at the FirstHealth Hoke Campus at the age of 86. Jim was born in Jefferson County, Alabama on July 17, 1931 to the late Walter Leon Culp and Lillie Belle Arant Culp. He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. Following his military service he taught Junior ROTC in South Carolina. He also volunteered with the Rockfish Community Watch and the Hoke County 4-H and received the Governors Volunteer of the Year Award. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Bennie Lee Brock Culp; his brothers, Charles, Johnny, Wayne his sisters, Lois, Dean, and Opal. He is survived by his wife, Laura Ross Culp; his son, Gary and his wife, Katie; his grandsons, Edmund and his wife, Melissa, Mark and his wife Jenna; three great grandchildren, Ian, Nate and Karsyn. Many loving and special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am following the visitation. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hoke County 4-H Campership Program, P.O. Box 578, Raeford, NC 28376.
