Annie Rogers Obituary

Mrs. Annie Mae Scott Rogers of Raeford passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in her home at the age of 86.Mrs. Rogers was born in Bishopville, SC on November 20, 1932, to the late Robert Ernest Scott and Audrey Nellie Lee Hopkins Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raphu (Blue) Rogers and her daughters Cynthia Gail Rogers and Regina Faye Rogers Sargent.Mrs. Rogers was a member of Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church, where in past years she was active in many church activities including serving as a vacation bible school leader. Her on-going, Christ centered life of faith sustained and nourished her soul.To her friends she was a beacon of warmth and affection, a caring and compassionate friend. She never missed an opportunity to provide support and encouragement to others. But, most importantly, she was the anchor of a vast and devoted family. Her family cherishes memories of home cooked meals, picking up pecans on cool crisp days, raising worms, gathering on every holiday around her table. Mostly, we will remember and cherish her smile and open arms that always welcomed us home. She had an entourage of people who cared for her daily, and that allowed her to spend her days at home. That was a blessing to her and her family. Thank you to each person in that entourage. She loved and was loved by all who knew her. That love will continue to shine through us all.She is survived by a son, Glenn R. Rogers and wife Sherry of Hope Mills, NC; three daughters, Debra A. Christian and husband Ray of Avondale, AZ; Kathy Long and husband Jerry of Raeford, NC; and Sue Parnell and husband David of Raeford, NC; one sister, Sylvia Maxwell of Camden, SC; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great great- granddaughter.Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC.A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Burns and Reverend Billy Joe Brady officiating.
