Lisette Velez

Lisette Colon Velez, age 43, the beloved wife of Edwin Colon, originally from Bridgeport, Connecticut entered into the eternal presence of the Lord on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, North Carolina. Lisette was born at Park City Hospital on November 29, 1977 in Bridgeport Connecticut. She is the cherished daughter of Emilio Velez Mendez & Luz Vargas Valentin of Rincon, Puerto Rico. Edwin and Lisette shared over 20 years together and recently married on February 6, 2021. They recently relocated to Raeford, North Carolina with their daughter. Lisette was a student at Sandhills Community College studying to become a medical coder. She was known for her love of family, endearing personality, and sweet-tempered nature. She is a respected member of the family. In addition to her husband, Lisette is survived by her son Joshua Gonzalez of Bridgeport, CT; daughter Jezlyne Gonzalez of Bridgeport, CT; and daughter Angelysse Colon of Raeford, NC. She leaves behind her father Emilio Velez Mendez and mother Luz Vargas Valentine of Rincon, Puerto Rico; sister Emily Rivera and husband Angelo of Stratford, CT; as well as brother Juan Antonio Velez of Bridgeport, CT. Friends and family members are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, May 15, 2021from 10:00am to 6:00pm at Crumpler Funeral Home located in 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376. A Christian service will begin at 2:00pm and will be officiated by Deacon Richard Quezada of First Emmanuel Baptist Church of Bridgeport CT.At the family’s request, final disposition will be by cremation.For more information, please call (910) 875-4145.
