Loriece (Ledbetter) Ashburn

Mrs. Loriece Ledbetter Ashburn, 88, loving mother, grandmother and widow of Randall Ashburn passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at St. Andrews Assisted Living Center in Concord, NC after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born October 22, 1933, in Fairview, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Ada Ledbetter. Loriece grew up in Fairview and was one of ten children. Loriece graduated from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville, NC in 1951, where she excelled in the classroom and played on the basketball and table tennis teams. After high school she moved to Washington, DC and later to Raleigh. She met Randall and they married in 1957, making a home in Raeford, NC. Loriece dedicated her adult life to caring for her family including her mother-in-law the late Nannie Ashburn. She always put her family first and is remembered as a wonderful cook and baker, seamstress and one that always made others feel better. She was a devoted member of Raeford United Methodist Church and long-time Sunday School teacher and volunteer. She worked for many years as the Administrative Assistant for the Plant Manager of Burlington Industries in Raeford.

She is survived by daughter Kathy Ashburn Archer and husband Charles of Raleigh, NC; son Randy Ashburn and wife June of Concord, NC; four grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Archer of Charlotte, NC; Kaitlyn Archer Ballance and her husband Brandon of Raleigh, NC; Dillon Ashburn and his wife Tori, of Knightdale, NC; and Nicole Ashburn of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Ledbetter and two sisters, Ruth Albertson and Helen Armfield. She is predeceased by her brothers George, Glenn, Marvin and her sisters Bernie, Leona and Sarah.

There will be private graveside ceremony for immediate family only in Raeford, NC.
