Pamela Jean Vallin

Pamela Jean (Johnson) Vallin, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed from this life to eternity on April 13, 2023 at age 72. She was born on October 23, 1950 in San Diego, California to Gordon and Sandra (Ford) Johnson, she was raised by her devoted Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents.

She graduated from Chula Vista High school and attended Southwestern Community College where she earned an associate degree accounting, both of Chula Vista, CA.  Pamela worked for a several years at her uncle’s bakery, The Royal Pie Bakery of San Diego until she found her career at the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Pamela worked at the California DMV for over twenty years until she retired.  Pamela was blessed to discover lifelong friendships among her coworkers.

Pamela was a devoted wife of 32 years to the late Santiago Maximo Vallin (Chago).  Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Pamela’s primary focus in her life was her children and grandchildren. She had a deep love for animals which brought her to her beloved Lhasa Apso dog and companion Handsome.

Pamela will be sadly missed by her four sons, Karl Hutson, Beau Layus, Brandon Layus, Andrew Layus, her daughter-in-law’s Jearlan Layus and Jamie Hutson and her four grandchildren Beau Layus Kientz, Lauryn Apostol-Layus, Mailyn Layus, and Gavin Hutson. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother.

Her Celebration of Life will be held October 21 at 3 PM at the residence of her son at 185 Briar Haven CT, Raeford, NC. She will be interned with her husband of 32 years at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA with a ceremony on a date TBD.
