Rebecca Gay Steadman-Smith, died April 1st, 2022, in her home in Florence, SC. She was 66
years old.
An adventurous person at heart, Rebecca loved to travel. She Graduated High School in 73 and
spent some years working as a Playboy Bunny in the mid to late seventies. She then went on to
become a flight attendant, where she would spend over thirty years in service traveling the
world on a weekly basis. Always a big fan of crime documentaries, she even spent some years
as a corrections officer and a private investigator. Aside from her intrepid career paths, she
indulged in other creative hobbies such as designing and creating stained glass windows,
painting sweatshirts, and inventing household gadgets. She loved wine, music, and dancing, and could always be found at the heart of any gathering. Rebecca died peacefully in the midst of friends and loved ones, following a 6-year battle with cancer.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sarah and Mallory, her grandson Edison,
mother Patricia Holt Steadman, and her brother Mike. She is also mourned by her beloved dogs, Sophie, and Gracie, who were never far from her side. “There is nothing that is invincible for a soul as spirited as you…yet you bowed down to death to honor God and his will. Rest in Peace.”
Rebecca will be laid to rest with a graveside service on Sunday, April 10th at 2pm. at the Raeford Cemetery
